Dr. Michele M. Mills & Dr. Travis M. Shannon Dr. Michele Mills and Dr. Travis Shannon are general dentists who graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2001 and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program. Following graduation, they were dentists in the NAVY for four and a half years with tours in Norfolk, VA, Parris Island, SC and Guam. Dr. Mills and Dr. Shannon have been married since 1998 and have two sons! When they moved to Salem, they were associate dentists for about two years. They began their own private practice following the retirement of Dr. Ison and Dr. Harris in January of 2008.
Dr. Mills’ post-doctorate training was in all areas of general dentistry with added interest in prosthodontics (crowns, bridges, implants and partials), cosmetic dentistry and children’s dentistry. She has also completed certification in Invisalign for straightening teeth without braces.
Dr. Shannon’s post-doctorate training was in all areas of general dentistry with added interest in prosthodontics (crowns, bridges, implants and partials), oral surgery and cosmetic dentistry. He also completed an additional ten month apprenticeship with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
Dr. Mills and Dr. Shannon are members of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, the Virginia Dental Association, Big Lick Study Club and the Roanoke Valley Dental Society. They are both active in these organizations. Dr. Mills was the program coordinator for the Roanoke Valley Dental Society in 2007-2008.
